Van Roof Rack Tips — van roof rack lights

Not sure if I reviewed this rack yet or not. I've been reviewing so many items for this van build I've lost track! If you are planning on buying a roof rack for your Promaster van build, this is what you want. Sure you could [attempt to] make one yourself as I was originally thinking, but you would never achieve the quality and look of this awesome rack! Yes, it's expensive. In defense of that, it's SOLID and beautiful! I truly believe this rack will outlast the van (and probably me as well). Honestly, I can't say enough good stuff about the rack or Orion. I had a question about the installation and got an email reply the same day--and it was a Sunday! These guys truly care about what they do and they do it very well. This is my second van build and the first didn't have a rack. If I should happen to build another van, this rack will be on the procurement list, 100%. My setup is 600W Renogy solar (6x100w panels) with 2 Maxxair vent fans. The look is the setup that's essentially the picture that's with this item on the webpage. The guys at Orion emailed me a cad drawing confirming the fit prior to purchase and the fit is 'like a glove'. This rack allows me to add 50% additional solar as compared to my previous van build. Wrote a previous review about the install process and design. Checking in after a year of heavy use.

Through four seasons and ~6 months of travel, completely happy and no complaints. Have barely had to tension hardware after traveling through blazing deserts and Teton winter.

There are so many different ways to use it, it looks great, and hasn't scuffed much or faded in the sun.

I added the awning later but wished I just did it at the beginning.

The ladder/pole/fairing don't whistle at all on my van. Clearing snow off if it in winter is pretty easy with the ladder.

I've seen no downside. It opens up tons of possibilities on how to configure your setup. I'm always eyeing the other racks out there and still think this one looks the best.

Installed the Sprinter Roof Rack and Deck Panels over the Lemans Roof vent on a 144 Sprinter. This allows enough deck space to put 3x175W walkable solar panels on top of the rack panels. Depending on the needs of each trip we can have a deck to sit on, room to store things, or a lot of solar. Very happy with the installation. Have not yet had a chance to travel with it as van build is nowhere near complete.

Rack and roof panels were very easy to install. Parts were manageable in weight and size and instructions were clear. True one person job.

Installed Lemans fan with a DIY Vans adapter to fit the channels in the roof. There was at least 1/2” clearance if it needed to be under a cross bar. Mine was just under a panel so had 1 1/2” clearance.

The 175w solar panels fill out the area on the rack which is great to maximize solar power, however, a good deal of thinking, measuring and precision was needed in mounting.

Very happy with Orion’s products, shipping times, and had great responsiveness from customer service as I was planning.

First off, again thank you to the crew. Helped me understand all the options and what to consider. The rack showed up quickly and the awning followed perfectly. I was able to install the roof rack by myself over a weekend. And with 2 little kids thats really saying something!!! Quality is outstanding and easy to adjust. Next up Ladder and roof panels. My wife and I installed the roof rack in a couple hours on our 177 2016 Sprinter. Orion provides a QR code that you can scan linking you to pretty foolproof illustrated instructions. The instructions were super easy to follow and make installation a lot less daunting! The materials are solid and very well made. The rack fits PERFECTLY on the van and we couldn't be happier. We also got the ladder, surf pole, and surf hooks. We LOOOVE them. The van is still a work in progress, but these additions are amazing. Thanks, Orion for making an awesome rack!

Super stoked to get our roof rack with the deck panels installed allowing us to get 600 watts of walkable solar panels on the deck! This thing is completely DIY. With this roof rack system, we have a Maxxair Fan, a 12v AC, a full deck, and 600 watts of walkable solar! Can't beat that.

I researched so many roof racks... and I mean SO many, ranging from budget to $6k+ options on the market. This rack was 100% the right decision for our Sprinter build. Incredibly easy to install, top-quality material, and thoughtful design. You can tell this was made for real, outdoor, rugged use. It took just a few hours to install (with 2 people) and it's solid after 2000+ miles on the road. If you're looking to get a rack that holds up and isn't the price of a new car, then get this one.

This roof rack and company is top notch. From a fast delivery (across the border to Canada), to quality materials and an ingenious build. The design is sleek, hides everything on the roof, and I get compliments on it everywhere I go. If I build another van I will definitely be getting this roof rack again.

We dropped a white cedar plank deck on our Orion Stealth Roof Rack and Ladder. Now, we can't imagine life on the road without it. It's where we go to watch the sky, dry off after a paddle, get some private space, and entertain friends. A single summer on the road with it and this darn thing has seen some action. We've dined on it, meditated, fished from it, we even had a sheriff on top of it looking for a missing paddler at one point. At every campground and stop at least one person wants to check it out. This rack is solid, the ladder is easy to climb and maneuver. Assembly will take a little patience, but once done it is totally worth the time, effort, and price.

We love the Promaster Stealth+ Roof Rack. It's designed perfectly to fit our fleet of vehicles at Boho Camper Vans. The rack looks sleek and cool, the quality is outstanding and the install directions are clear and straightforward.

Perhaps the best thing about our experience with Orion is the team. Matt and company are always available to answers questions when we need them and they're available to our clients as well. That's something hard to find and/or quantify.

Very impressed with everything about this purchase. Great customer service from the Orion team. They needed to verify some measurements for my Solis Pocket configuration and they were on it in every way. once the rack arrived, the packaging was a step above. It arrived in perfect condition because it was packaged incredibly well. Once opened, assembled and installed, it all went flawlessly. Fit and finish was beyond expectation. Very solid company and product. you can see the attention to pride, quality, & detail that the team puts into the product. It is not the least expensive, but it is the best of the best and worth the extra cost.

This rack is exactly what I was looking for when I scouring the internet for Promaster specific racks, which there are already very few to begin with. It is adjustable in every way and will save many holes and potential leak points in the roof. I wanted a rack that I could set a deck on and would hold some solar. The only other racks I saw that could do this had to be custom ordered, were 2 times the price and had super long lead times. And then didn’t allow for any future changes. The guys at Orion Van Gear are extremely helpful and responsive to any questions. The included instructions with supplemental video made the install super straight forward. I love the asthetic and can’t wait to get the ladder up, after front panel window install then the solar and deck. If you want a rack that checks all the boxes and a company with great personal customer service then look no further.

The rack is exactly what I was looking for. I live in an area with an HOA and I needed something that didn’t bring any added attention to the van. From the street you can’t see the solar panels or the Max Air fan. I also love the modern visual appeal with the blacked out 80/20 which you don’t see in other racks on the market. I’m STOKED!! To have found this.. NICELY DONE LADS!!

Just after I purchased my pro master I did a search for the best rack for pro masters. The Orion stealth apparently has consistently satisfied customers and it was easy to see that it was a smart choice for so many reasons. I’m a contractor and an outdoor enthusiast. The sturdy versatile and great looking design meet every need and make me feel proud about how I crowned my new van! You can basically build anything on to the 80/20 components even off of the sides. The reviews about great customer service turned out true for me too. I’m happy to have supported a great American small company that makes the best pro master rack!
