Overview

The Victron MultiPlus-II 120V is a multifunction inverter and battery charger with two AC outputs, designed for professional marine, vehicle, and land-based off-grid systems. It supports ESS (Energy Storage System) setups and includes features that help manage limited shore or generator power.

In the event of a grid failure, or when shore or generator power is disconnected, the inverter activates automatically and takes over the supply to connected loads in less than 20 milliseconds. With a GX device, you can monitor and control the system locally or remotely through the VRM app and VRM portal.

PowerControl

Helps prevent generator or shore power overload by automatically reducing battery charging when needed.

PowerAssist

Boosts available AC power during peak demand by supplementing limited shore or generator power with battery power.

Uninterrupted AC Power

Fast transfer to inverter operation (less than 20 milliseconds) helps keep many sensitive loads running without interruption.

Remote Monitoring

When paired with a GX device, monitor and control locally (LAN) or remotely using the VRM app and VRM portal.

Frequently Asked Questions (click to expand)

1. What is the difference between the main AC output and the second AC output?

The unit has two AC outputs. The main output is designed for uninterrupted power and transfers quickly to inverter operation during outages. The second output is intended for loads that should only run when AC input is present.

2. How fast does it transfer during an outage?

The inverter takes over in less than 20 milliseconds, which can help keep many sensitive loads running without interruption.

3. How does PowerControl help with limited shore power or a generator?

PowerControl helps prevent overload of a limited AC source by automatically reducing battery charging when needed.

4. What does PowerAssist do?

PowerAssist can supplement limited shore or generator power with battery power during peak demand, then recharge when demand drops and capacity is available.

5. Can I monitor or control it remotely?

Yes, when paired with a Victron GX device, you can monitor and control locally (LAN) or remotely via the VRM app and VRM portal.

6. What should I confirm before ordering?

Confirm your battery voltage (12V, 24V, or 48V), the inverter size you need (3000VA or 5000VA), and your AC input and transfer switch needs (50A or 95A, depending on model).

7. Does it support ESS (Energy Storage System) setups?

Yes, the MultiPlus-II is a key component in Victron ESS setups and supports ESS operation when configured as part of a complete system.

8. Is professional installation required?

The manual includes important safety and installation guidance, including following applicable electrical codes and qualified practices. If you are not experienced with AC and DC power systems, use a qualified installer.
