We recommend using this kit to secure the leading edge of a walkable panel when installed near the front of your roof rack. This kit includes two anodized aluminum 'J' extrusions, available in silver or black. Black is recommended when used on our roof rack. Make sure to select the correct walkable solar panel model you intend to mount as that is how the length and channel height are determined. Standard lengths are based on the solar panels being mounted side-to-side with the longest side facing the front of the van. Contact us for custom sizes (if your roof layout calls for the short edge of a walkable panel to be facing the front of the rack you will need a shorter length).

Installation:
Attach the J channel to our modular deck panels using 3M VHB double-sided tape* (*tape not included).

Note: Must be used in conjunction with 5/16-18" rivnuts, bolts and large washers on all four corners. Do not use J channels without securing panel corners.

Custom Orion washers coming soon for each corner. Inquire if interested.

Power

The panels work great and I have yet to plug in to shore power. I have left the battery heaters on and the power takes care of the battery’s first thing in the morning. I have only been on one trip. Ran all power and never was below 550w in the morning.

Awesome DIY Roof Rack with Walking Solar Deck!

The Orion roof rack with their deck panels allowed us to get 600 watts of walkable solar panels on our 170 sprinter! This roof rack system has a Maxxair Fan, a 12v AC, a full deck, and 600 watts of walkable solar! Can't beat that.

Game changer!

While the stock 170W panel is enough to keep your house batteries topped up in good conditions w/ the just the fridge on while the van is parked in the driveway, it will not keep up with active use while boondocking for multiple days. With this set up I have been able to park and live/work in my Pocket 36A for 5 days (running fridge, Truma heater, lights, audio equipment, laptop, phone, WeBoost) in mixed wether without my house batteries becoming a concern. In light of other options that would allow me this flexibility, this package got me there very easily and relatively inexpensively in that I had already added the rack to mount my ladder, Fiamma 45s awning, and WeBoost Drive Reach overland antenna. The folks at Orion have been great to work with all along the way… quality products backed by top shelf customer service. Thank you!

Still Stoked After A Year - Still Worth It

Wrote a previous review about the install process and design. Checking in after a year of heavy use.

Through four seasons and ~6 months of travel, completely happy and no complaints. Have barely had to tension hardware after traveling through blazing deserts and Teton winter.

There are so many different ways to use it, it looks great, and hasn't scuffed much or faded in the sun.

I added the awning later but wished I just did it at the beginning.

The ladder/pole/fairing don't whistle at all on my van. Clearing snow off if it in winter is pretty easy with the ladder.

I've seen no downside. It opens up tons of possibilities on how to configure your setup. I'm always eyeing the other racks out there and still think this one looks the best.

Amazing lights

The Fiamma LED light kit is amazing super easy to install and the light it puts out awesome. I highly recommend this kit to anyone who has an Fiamma awning and wants lights outside.

Awesome Roof Rack!

I purchased the Promaster 136" version of the Stealth+ roof rack. It fits the Velit 2000R air conditioner, Deluxe MaxAir Fan and two 200 Watt Renogy Solar panels with no issue. I am very pleased with my purchase and it looks great!
